I am currently building a robot dog during whatever free time I have outside of Double. The project is named Antarctic because its original goal was to build a robot, fly it to the Antarctic, and stream it surviving live (the Antarctic is the most accessible place that is somewhat equivalent to Mars). We’ll see if we eventually reach that goal, for v1 of the project I am focused on an affordable BOM and developing an ML controller based on Disney’s Bipedal Robotic Character paper.

Instead of designing this behind closed doors, I am documenting every minute of the design process on Youtube. The videos are multiple hours long each and shows every part of CADing, 3D printing, assembling, programming firmware, training models, etc. I don’t know who wants to watch that but I found myself watching that type of content often (shoutout to George Hotz and Martin Shkreli who also put out that type of content in the regular) except there was no hardware / robotics equivalent, so this is it.
